Pros and Cons of Moving While Pregnant

So, we just got done with our move a couple weeks ago. And we're really feeling at home here and love the new place. I'll have to post pictures soon. But I thought I'd make up a list of the good and the bad of the moving process.

To kind of give a background, my mom and I came up a couple days earlier then the boys to get the place cleaned. That way, when the muscles got here, we could just move everything in! The place wasn't as clean as I thought it was going to be when we arrived, but luckily the rental company sent some people back over to clean and re-did the carpets. So much better!

Cons:
  • As much as I thought I could help, I just got way too tired. Also, I just can't bend over and move the way that I wanted to. Note: I was 35 weeks pregnant when we moved, I'm now 37...whoop!
  •  The stress of finding a filthy apartment waiting for me wore me out! I knew some cleaning would need to be done, but we wasted half a day dealing with getting it cleaned like it should have been done in the first place.
  • This is more of summer specific one, but the heat and being on my feet all day made my feet/ankles so swollen!

Pros:
  • It's kind of the best way to nest, you start from scratch and everything is clean! Then you get to organize everything the way you want.
  • You get lots of help since it's pretty obvious that you are useless.
  • Everything gets done at once, for us, it wasn't a drawn out process and we were completely done and settled in a few days.

So it's not that extensive of a list. But, if we had to do it all over again...I would opt out of moving while this far along. Even if it had been a few weeks earlier I think I would have been able to do more. It's all done though and we are really happy with the new place. The baby's room is all ready to go. I'll have to take pictures soon. Bags are pretty much packed. I know it could be another month, but it could also be any day now too. It's kind of weird to think of it that way.

Crib!

So I had a post awhile ago about different kinds of cribs I was liking, so I thought I would do a short post about the one I finally picked. It was such a blessing that my parents got the crib for us as a wedding gift, because we definitely would not have spent the money on this crib. But I do love it so much! So the crib we got was this one....
But...as you may have guessed, white is not really our color, especially Bryce. So we got this crib in their "blackberry" finish that looks like this.
I'm so excited to get to Moscow and set this bad boy up! Apparently while I was gone in Pocatello, my parents took the crib out to look and make sure everything was fine...and they said the finish was really rough. Like sandpaper. So Babies R Us was great and re-ordered one for me and got it ordered and here within a week! I think I'll be able to pick it up tomorrow and pick up some last minute things as well.

34 Weeks

So, I'm a bad blogger. Not like I'm really trying to be one, I like the idea of it. But obviously I just don't have the motivation yet to do it. I would like to get into more. If anything, just for my sake...so I can remember all these moments and changes that are happening in our lives.

Anywho, the baby weighs almost 5 pounds and it about 18 inches long! Holy cow! He's getting so big and strong. Sometimes his kicks are more painful than anything, but I find comfort in feeling his movements throughout the day. I'm feeling huge lately though, and am starting to think about how to get my body back into shape after the little man comes. I don't want to set up unrealistic goals for myself, but at the same time I need a goal and some motivation. I'm thinking about signing up for a 5K that I actually did when I was about 6 six pregnant earlier this year. This would give me about 2 months to train if I take 6 weeks off with doing no running at all. I'm not going to be trying to break any records, but I think having something that I have to work towards will help.

In other news, we are moving next week!! I can't wait. Having all this baby stuff and nowhere to put it is driving me nuts. I'm definitely ready to start nesting. I can't wait to get the apartment cleaned and ready for the baby. I'll feel better about the due date coming up when things are ready. :)

How far along? 34 weeks
Maternity clothes?  Yes...and some of the tops are getting small. Ah!
Stretch marks? Now starting to get some on my hips. Wha???
Sleep: Hips are still sore, not too bad though. Walking and stretching seems to help a bit.
Best moment of the week: Unfortunately nothing really stands out since I had to leave Bryce this week...
Miss Anything? Starting to miss my old body.
Movement: Yes!
Cravings? Food!
Anything making you queasy or sick: None
Have you started to show yet? Duh...
Gender: Boy!
Labor Signs: Nope
Symptoms: Sore hips, swollen ankles when it gets really hot.
Belly Button in or out? Still in, but it getting more and more shallow
Wedding rings on or off? Off. :( I probably could still be wearing it, but I didn't want to take any chances. I have a fill in ring for now.
Happy or moody most of the time? Happy!
Looking forward to: Moving next week!!!

Two years....

today I married my best friend. These two years have gone by so fast and now I can't believe we have a little baby on the way too! We are so incredibly blessed with so much and just so blessed to have each other. I will be missing him a lot today, but I know we are making a decision that is best for our family this summer.

I know this fall that a lot will change, but I think we are so ready to be parents. And I know Bryce will be such a great dad. I love watching him with all of our nieces and nephews, it just makes me so excited to see him with our little baby boy.

I'm so blessed to have Bryce in my life. Since I've met him, I've been happier than I ever have been in my life. He still gives me butterflies when I see him and yet I'm so comfortable around him. I can truly be myself with him. I can't imagine my life with anyone else.

29 Weeks

Well, a lot happened this last week. Mainly because we got to go to Oregon to see Bryce's family. It was so much fun, and I wish we had taken pictures.  But I might be able to snag some from someone else.

The trip went by really fast and it was so much fun. Lots of family time and they had a shower for us while we were there too! We got so much great stuff, it really was a blessing. Plus, it was great to be with Bryce so much. I slept better with him there than I had in awhile. And I'm excited because he gets a 3 day weekend this week so he can come visit. YAY!!!

How far along? 29 weeks
Maternity clothes?  Yes...same as before
Stretch marks? Same....
Sleep: Same, but I've been so tired from visiting family that I feel like sleep has been better. My hips still bother me though.
Best moment of the week: Being with Bryce and seeing family!
Miss Anything? No, not really
Movement: Yes! He moves so much. My whole stomach moves at times.
Cravings? Food!
Anything making you queasy or sick: None
Have you started to show yet? Duh...
Gender: Boy!
Labor Signs: Nope
Symptoms: Sore hips, swollen ankles when it gets really hot.
Belly Button in or out? Still in, but it is more shallow than before.
Wedding rings on or off? On, but I need to start looking for a replacement ring. My ring is getting a little tight.
Happy or moody most of the time? Happy!
Looking forward to: My second baby shower this weekend. :)

Worries

Lately my wonderful husband has brought up the financial burdens we are about to endure. It's frustrating, because I feel like he is saying the things I was worried about before we decided to get pregnant. But before, he would just say "It will be ok!" and things like that. And now that I'm pregnant and not working...and won't be working, I'm worried that he is bringing up these concerns as well. I'm sure we will be ok, but now I feel guilty for no longer contributing financially.
So what has this lead me to do? Rack my brain for things that I can do as a new mom to help bring in some money. I wish I was naturally more creative so I could sell something online, but alas...I'm not. The only thing that I thought I could be good at is graphic prints, because those are always the things I like to doodle and stuff. But like an fool I deleted the Photoshop that came automatically on my computer years ago. So I don't have the software, and I'm not about to spend that much since I don't know how to use it.
But really, I just need to trust in YHWH. He will provide for us, and I think this was part of His plan for us. He will help us through, we just need to trust in him. I just need to remind myself not to worry so much and to be patient and not anxious. And if there is something for me to do to help provide, He will reveal it to me. Well, that is all for my ramblings for now.

28 Weeks...I'm Back!

Well, I took a break from blogging since I didn't ever post pictures and we moved. Not sure why I'm taking it up again (maybe because I couldn't find a summer job) because now I don't have the camera to take belly shots. But maybe I can use the parentals. :)

Anywho, it's been 2 months about since I've written and lots has changed. Bryce and I are living apart right now which has been tough. We have been really blessed though since I'm not working I have a lot of freedom to go see Bryce whenever....and stay as long as I want. I guess I do have something set up with a temp agency, but nothing has really worked out with my schedule so far. I'm hoping after our Oregon trip next week that I will be able to work a little bit. I'm starting to feel guilty for not contributing anything. But anywho, I can't wait to see Bryce again. We're never doing this again...that's for sure. This last time was especially hard to leave. I'll blame the hormones for all the crying. haha!

The baby is 28 weeks now and weighs about 2 1/4 pounds and is almost 15 inches long! Today also marks the beginning of my third trimester and I have my glucose test today. I'm kind of nervous about that one actually, they said to avoid sugars and carbs...and last night without thinking about it really, I loaded up on the carbs. Whoops. I hope I don't have to take it again, but I guess if I do, I just hope that I pass in the end. :) I think I should because my weight gain hasn't been that bad and I eat pretty ok.

How far along? 28
Maternity clothes?  Yes...and a couple normal maxi dresses

Sleep: Pretty ok. It's hard sleeping without Bryce and my sore hips require me to change positions a lot.

Cravings? I'm not as hungry as I was before and no real specific cravings.

20 Weeks and it's a....

BOY!!! We are so excited that we finally know that the little bean is a boy! I'm really about 20 weeks and 4 days now, but I guess this post is better late than never right? So last week we had our big ultrasound and everything looks great! The closer it got to the ultrasound the more nervous I got about something being wrong, but everything checked out. :) The baby is the length of a banana this week and his movements are getting so strong. I really think it will be any day now that Bryce can feel him kick. Although, he wasn't moving really at the appointment. Oh well. The boy needs his sleep I guess.
It's crazy to think that it is half way over already. It's going by so fast! And we are moving this weekend too...which is why this post is kind of late, there has been a lot going on! Thankfully we are doing pretty well with getting everything packed and in storage. Soon we'll be down in Nampa and then Bryce will leave me to go to Pocatello. :( I'm going to miss him so much this summer, but I'm so thankful that I will have family and friends close by.

19 Weeks

The baby is now about 6 inches long (the size of a heirloom tomato)! And it's definitely showing in my belly. This week I got asked if I wanted my coffee decaf, I think that is the official first time someone commented on me being pregnant...not just eating too many cookies. Speaking of cookies, I made a bunch of sugar cookies last night...and I ate five. Sad. Oh well!
And in just a few short days we find out the sex! I don't really have any strong feelings about what the sex could be, but everyone else seems to think it's a girl. But then when I hear that I think to myself "Well, it could be a boy!" So maybe boy is my feeling? I don't know, I've had dreams where were had a boy and a girl...so we'll see soon enough!
This week marked this first time I was definitely sure that it was the baby moving in there. I was at work and I felt it a little...and then a little more. It is similar to what I had felt a couple weeks before, but there was no mistaking it this time. Now I've felt it quite a bit, mainly at work. I think because I'm sitting still so long here. But it is so neat to feel the bean move around. I can't wait for Bryce to feel it too. :)

How far along? 19 weeks
Maternity clothes?  Same as before, but with the weather getting nice I need to buy some dresses or skirts.
Stretch marks? Nothing new
Sleep: Getting better, since I've ditched all the pillows my hips don't hurt as much. I think we need a new mattress.
Best moment of the week: Bryce coming home! And being sure that I felt the baby move this week.
Miss Anything? No, not really
Movement: Yes! Pretty consistent now, or at least...I've felt it for a few days in a row now.
Cravings? Not really. Well, candy...like fruity candy. Anything like that.
Anything making you queasy or sick: None
Have you started to show yet? Yep, it's official
Gender: Soooooooon!
Labor Signs: Nope
Symptoms: Body aches
Belly Button in or out? Definitely in

Happy or moody most of the time? Happy!
Looking forward to: Knowing the gender...just a four more days!

So I'm finally getting around to adding some pictures, and I have a few pre-post pictures that I thought I'd share.

4 or 5 Weeks...Just finding out we're pregnant

We're pregnant!

6 Weeks...after running a 5K. Felt so sick afterwards.
About 9 weeks...maybe, I didn't keep track of these good enough!

18 Weeks

Week 18!!! Just about a week and a half till we find out the sex...we're getting really excited! Anywho, this week is being spent partly by myself. Bryce had to leave for a field trip the other day. It's just me and the pooch's till the end of the weekend. It's been fine, just a little lonely at night. I may have let the dogs up on the bed this morning. They were so cuddly though!
The baby this week is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the size of a bell pepper) and weighs almost 7 ounces! It's crazy how quickly this has been going already. With summer coming up, I need to keep reminding myself to enjoy this time while it lasts!

How far along? 18 weeks
Maternity clothes? I'm officially wearing my maternity jeans only. Regular tops and some maternity tops too.
Stretch marks? Nothing new
Sleep: Eh, it's worse now that Bryce is gone. I wake up a lot.
Best moment of the week: Well, it will be when Bryce comes home.
Miss Anything? No, not really
Movement: Nothing new. :(

17 Weeks

This week has been great! It started off celebrating Passover and then starting Unleavened Bread and celebrating First Fruits as well. It's been really neat with Unleavened Bread especially, because it is such a daily reminder. It is hard not to eat anything with out leavening (yeast, baking soda, baking powder...). But it really makes you think, if leaven represents sin...look how much sin there is that we need to get rid of in our lives, and how much is all around us as well. Anywho, on to baby news! This week the baby is about 5 inches big and their skeleton is changing from cartilage to bone. :) So the movements that I'm pretty sure were the baby, will just start becoming more distinguishable!

How far along? 17 weeks
Maternity clothes? I'm kind of at an in between phase for the pants I think. My maternity jeans are too big still, but my regular pants don't really fit that great either. So, the answer is...I go between regular and maternity clothes
Stretch marks? Nothing new
Sleep: My poor hips! Well, my right one especially. But it doesn't affect my sleep too bad, so really...I'm doing great.
Best moment of the week: Celebrating the feasts!
Miss Anything? No, not really
Movement: I almost called Bryce this last week because I was certain of it, but they say when you know you are sure. So hopefully I'll get my confirmation soon!
Cravings? Nothing in particular, it changes day to day I feel like.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope, not really
Have you started to show yet? I think it's starting to get pretty obvious. Nobody has asked me about it really yet though. So who knows.
Gender: Just a couple weeks till we know!
Labor Signs: Nope
Symptoms: Body aches
Belly Button in or out? Definitely in
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or moody most of the time? Happy!
Looking forward to: Feeling the baby move and finding out the gender!

Some Nursery Ideas

So even though we aren't sure what the sex is yet, I can't help but look on Pinterest for nursery ideas! Here are some things from my "baby board" that I'm thinking could be cute for either a boy or a girl. :) All the original sources are listed on Pinterest.

I'm keeping my eyes open for more ideas and will be adding them to my Pinterest board. And I'm sure some of these ideas will change once we know the sex, but for now...it's fun to look!

16 Weeks

The bean is the size of an avocado now! And just a month till we find out the sex. :) Can't wait!
Well, the job stuff has been put to rest. We went with the job Bryce already has, it really was the more logical choice for now. And it is just for a couple summers, once Bryce graduates we can take that leap and move somewhere else. But for now, and for the baby, we are choosing this one. And it is still great experience for Bryce too. It really was a win-win either way.
Besides that, I'm starting to feel bigger. My belly is starting to be more noticeable I think. And I went shopping for some clothes, and it really was kind of a bummer seeing the clothes that I would normally want to try on for this summer...but knowing that they wouldn't work for a preggo belly. Oh well! There was one that I did like, but they didn't have it in the size I would need this summer. Oh, and I'm officially in my maternity jeans...and they are fitting pretty well. It seems to have change so fast too.
Oh, and I do have some belly pictures...not for every week, but I'll start doing them more often now. I'll try and get them posted by the end of the weekend!

How far along? 16 weeks
Maternity clothes? Started the week in regular jeans, not in my maternity jeans. My tops still fit fine though.
Stretch marks? Nothing new
Sleep: I need to buy some extra pillows for at night! Some nights I'm fine, but others my hips get really sore. And sometimes my back too, which makes me wonder if it's me or the bed.
Best moment of the week: Deciding what job to take and hearing the little one's heartbeat!
Miss Anything? No, not really
Movement: None yet.
Cravings? Nothing in particular, it changes day to day I feel like.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Soups
Have you started to show yet? I think I am. I'll have to take a poll though. :)
Gender: ???
Labor Signs: Nope
Symptoms: Body aches and headaches once in awhile.
Belly Button in or out? Definitely in
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or moody most of the time? Happy!
Looking forward to: Feeling the baby move!

Heartbeat

Yesterday, I had a doctor's appointment, and it was all pretty basic...just a physical and checking to see how everything is going...which everything looks great. :) But the coolest part of the appointment was getting to hear the heartbeat! It was great to hear the bean since I haven't felt any movement yet, and I know I won't for a little while still. So it was so neat to have that little reminder of what is going on in there! I'm also really glad that Bryce got to be there, his face when they found the heartbeat was pretty priceless.
Other than that, we are still faced with trying to decide with what to do this summer. Really, we just need to pray about it. We are so wishy-washy and there are good and bad things about each opportunity, so we should really just leave it up to Him about what we should do. Hopefully we will be lead in the right direction. Either way, it is a blessing to have these opportunities.

15 Weeks

It's crazy to think that I'm already 15 weeks along. When I first found out I was pregnant, this seemed so far away.
But in other news, Bryce is officially a BLM employee in Pocatello, Idaho...which is great! It is a great program and it comes with wonderful benefits that would start before he even works. BUT, he got a call today from Oregon BLM about a summer job that could turn full-time as well. We wouldn't get the benefits till he is full time, but it still sounds like a good opportunity. We normally wouldn't think about it this much maybe, but Bryce's family lives in Oregon. AND his brother and his family from Florida are planning on being out west all summer this year. It would be great to be in Oregon while they are as well. There are still a lot of questions to be answered, but we are pretty excited about the potential opportunity!

How far along? 15 weeks
Maternity clothes? I wore my maternity jeans by default this week. I hadn't done laundry in awhile and they were the only clean ones!
Stretch marks? Nope...no new ones
Sleep: Getting worse. I still get up a few times in the night, but I think it's time to invest in a body pillow or something. I get so sore at night.
Best moment of the week: Finding out we might be able to get to be in Oregon for the summer. :) We'll find out more next week.
Miss Anything? Same as before, coffee.
Movement: None yet.
Cravings? Carbs!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Soups still just don't sound that good to me.
Have you started to show yet? Still I think only obvious to people who know me pretty well.
Gender: ???
Labor Signs: Nope
Symptoms: Body aches and headaches once in awhile.
Belly Button in or out? Definitely in
Wedding rings on or off? On

Cribs

I'm no expert on cribs...YET! But I have started looking around a little, like I mentioned before. And really it started with this picture I found on Pinterest.

So cute right? The whole room is adorable, but I really liked the crib! After some searching, I couldn't find where that crib in particular was from, but considering this was a room from a magazine and some designer completed it, I'm assuming it is expensive. BUT....I love the look of the wood and it seemed so simple. Some of these cribs I see look like royalty is sleeping in there. Like this one.

They just seem way too over the top for me personally. So my search began...I looked on Babies R Us and at Target, but nothing really stood out. Well, nothing that wasn't over $300. And while I have been offered to be given a crib as a gift, I just feel that there has to be an affordable crib out there that I like and is safe enough for our child. Then, I'm not really sure how...I went and looked on Walmart.com. Yep, and soon enough I found one I liked.

I really, REALLY like this one...and the price is pretty reasonable too, just $199 or $179 now as a "rollback" price. Then I was wondering if it was all too good to be true. So I looked at various user reviews. And they were all great! Actually, John and Sherry from Young House Love have a crib from the same collection. And since I read their blog daily, I obviously trust their research as well. The main complaint I found about this particular crib was about bumpers not fitting well because of the solid sides...but then, some people say you shouldn't even use bumpers anyways. So we'll see, and I'm sure you can make something work. Also, it has no moving parts and uses non-toxic paint. Those are all good things in my book. We don't have to go out and buy a crib tomorrow or anything, but I have a good feeling about this one for now.

YAY!!

*Originally written January 11, 2012

So, if you are looking at this blog, you probably already know that we are pregnant!

We are so excited and happy about the news. :) Right now I'm only 5 weeks along, but I wanted to start documenting this journey before I forget everything. So Bryce and I got back from winter break and decided to take a test. They were dollar store tests, so when I took the first one, I thought it was negative. I was kind of bummed, but then Bryce looked at it and thought there was a faint line. So we went out and bought more tests. Five test later, they were all positive!

We had planned on waiting to tell family for a bit, but we aren't very good at keeping secrets. So we told our family, and then we started telling friends. Which made me nervous, because really...pretty much everyone knew. But we were too excited to keep it to ourselves. And it felt weird talking with everyone knowing this wonderful news and not saying anything.

So, the main symptoms I'm having so far is I'm sleepy a lot, queasiness, and some bloating. But really, I feel pretty good. The morning sickness has just decided to kick it up a notch though, I'm scared to see what it will be like in the coming weeks. There are lots of changes coming our way, but we are excited for them all!

14 Weeks

This week has been pretty uneventful I would say. I have started looking at some crib ideas...early, I know! And I actually am really liking the Baby Mod collection at Wal-Mart. I know. Wal-Mart. But they are really cute and pretty affordable too. :)

How far along? 14 weeks
Maternity clothes? Nope! I'm pretty proud because both my mom and my sister were convinced I would be in my maternity jeans by now. I'm close to them, but I'm making it to the end of March like I said I would!
Stretch marks? Nope...no new ones
Sleep: Actually, last night I only had to get up once! AMAZING! I slept so good. I also was starting to get kind of achy at night so I started sleeping with a pillow between my legs. So much better. :)
Best moment of the week: Hmmm....This whole week has been pretty good. Nothing has really stuck out.
Miss Anything? Same as before, coffee.
Movement: None yet.
Cravings? Carbs!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Same, soups. I made Taco Chilli this week which is normally yummy, but I only took a couple bites and didn't want anymore. :(
Have you started to show yet? To me and Bryce it seems so obvious, but I think we are the only ones who can tell.
Gender: Don't know yet still, but we will find out May 1st!
Labor Signs: Nope
Symptoms: Starting to get my energy back, but I'm getting some body aches.
Belly Button in or out? Definitely in
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or moody most of the time? Happy, but I do have some moments of moody
Looking forward to: Hearing the final word about Bryce's job and starting to show more. And I know it's a few weeks away, but I can't wait to feel the baby move!

13 Weeks

The past week we have been gone visiting family for spring break. It was great to see everyone now that they all know the good news. :) The baby this week is about 3 inches long...still so tiny! I found this from Little Baby Garvin and I thought it was a neat idea. Not all of it really applies yet, but here it goes. :)

How far along? 13 Weeks
Total weight gain: Not sure exactly, not too much though. Maybe 3 pounds. *I might not keep answering this if things get out of control!
Maternity clothes? Not really, I have worn a couple maternity tops. It wasn't really out of necessity, but because I just look fat in all my other shirts.
Stretch marks? I think I see one forming ALREADY. I have been moisturizing like a mad woman.
Sleep: When I'm sleeping, great! But between bathroom trips and a puppy who likes to play in the middle of the night...I wake up quite a bit.
Best moment this week: Spring break! Yes, I've been out of college for over two years and I still get spring break. How lucky am I?
Have you told family and friends: Yes!
Miss Anything? I miss liking coffee, but really...I don't miss anything.
Movement: Nothing
Food cravings: It changes daily really. One day it's skittles the next it's cheeseburgers.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Um, the thought of soup kind of makes me want to gag. I think it's because when I was really sick Bryce kept eating the soup I had made previously...and the smell was horrible to me then. And coffee doesn't really make me queasy, but it just doesn't sound good anymore.
Have you started to show yet: A little bump so far. But it really looks like I just ate too much for lunch or something.
Gender: Don't know yet!
Labor Signs: No
Symptoms: Really, I feel pretty good. Just still get worn out pretty easily.
Belly Button in or out? in
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: Find out the sex...that's so far away though! I guess I'm also excited about hearing the final word on Bryce's summer job. :)

First Ultrasound and 11 Weeks

Well, baby Jones made it's first appearance today. And it was so neat! We were supposed to see the little one on Wednesday, but after an hour and a half...we were told we would have to reschedule. Then yesterday we popped in to be told the doctor had just been called on a delivery. I almost cried right there in the office, but...I waited till we got out in the car. It was just pretty disappointing to get all excited and then be let down, twice. But they were nice about it and rescheduled for early this morning, the doctor came in early just to see us. I was very appreciative of that because I did not want to wait till next week!
But it was so neat to see the little bean finally! The doctor says everything looks great so far. He was moving around a bit too and even waved! We are so excited that he is healthy and growing nice and big. :)  The due date after our appointment today is still September 21st...mark your calendars everyone!
